About 8"-12" from the diff, the shaft goes through a 6" x 8" hole in the chassis rails (if you get what I mean). Thus you need a 2 piece inorder to drop the front half, and then pull the rear half out. If you undo it at the diff first, it only drops about 1" maybe 2" before it rests in this hole. You would need about 3" drop to clear the diff On a side note, my tailshaft cost me $275 I think to lengthen the front piece by 100mm (whole tube had to be replaced) and then rebalanced, but I think I got ripped off. I know someone who had a single piece lengthened by the same amount, and he paid just under $200 [Report message to a moderator]
