i think you are typing to say that you have a late 4age map sensor, but were after an early type (ae82/86 type) sensor that has a different connector.
the 3 wires are (when looking from above the sensor - i think!)
VC (5v power suply from the ecu)
PIM (siginal wire)
E2 (earth)
i do not know how this equates to the earlier sensor, but someone might have a detailed enough diagram that tells you - my ae86 manual just tells you the wire colours
