from the ECU, the wire goes to the diagnostics connector. Nowhere else....
BUT - also on your diagnostics connector should be an earth terminal.... the idea being that to utilise the diagnotics function (either for engine codes, timing etc) you simply short the diagnotics pin to earth using the "special service tool 45" (ie a paperclip)
