recentyly paid 2100 for a stock one. white, pretty much dead straight. good interior apart from the dash. nothing missing, but some decent amounts of rust unfortunately. by todays market trends, i think thats a fair price, i could have done better, but i wanted one and had the cash. you also dont get the oppurtunity to buy them that often. it seems to go in cycles, there will be a ton for sale (like now kinda) and then none for ages.

i think it will cost me alot less than 1400 bux to repair the rust, get a repsray, and have the dash resto'd. if i did that, i think i could get 4k+ without too much trouble.

my last sprinter i sold for 4800 or 4900 i think. not much done except a jap spec motor (stock ecu and loom) some crappy import 15s, a cheap old steering wheel that was left over from my 124 and some good boston splits (and no other stereo gear at all). sold with like a months rego. dodgy paint, decent interior, cut springs, oil leakin' tired old car. and that was over a year ago.

the people on here may not be the type to pay top dollar, but there are people out there that will pay through the nose for one. unfortunately for people who had an interest in the car prior, and for somewhat more legitamate reasons, thanks to hot4s, its cult status has spread from japan, and has forced the prices up.

theres another factor now. imports. at a yard on ipswich road, i recently noticed 2. 1 coupe and 1 hatch, both levins. the coupe was already sold at 9k. i think coupes are ugly, it had old dodgy import (ofcourse) 14" wheels and crappy 60 profile tires. apparently it had a decent engine and maybe some suspension. still, outwardly, it looked average. then the hatch. had a small port, an exhaust, some miss matched 14s, panda paint and a half cage. less modified, but it looked cool. they had 14k on it, and while i was there, no less than 4 groups of people checked it out, completely disregarding R32 gtrs @ 33k, nice 2L turbo S13s at 16...

i know for a fact i can (and will) have a car more modified than the coupe, and even nicer looking than the hatch, for less than 9k. starting with my 2k stocko aus spec. well less, so as far as im concerned, im ahead.

but to answer youre question, theyre definately over priced. but you knew that.
