thanks everybody for the answers to my questions. nice little sense of community u have got here.
nice to know that that celicas are not relatively hard to work on. a few more questions.

1. i see that the non 2tg 18rg engines in the celicas cope quite a bit of shit(constant references to boat anchors). are they really that bad? is it worth waiting round for a model to come around with a 2tg or 18rg in them.

2. never actually been in a celica. are the backseats made for dwarfs? are the interiors poor quality.?

3.OK. this is insurance related. i am basically 2/3 of the way saving for a decent celica and trying to figure out how much i should save for insurance/rego. went to that handy nrma apparantely im looking at
Green Slip-575
Third Party- 300-600
Rego-215

so to run a $3000 car, in terms of insurance/rego for a year will cost round 1100-1400. does this sound right? because that bites hardcore.
what by definition in insurance terms is a 'modded car', does a exhaust and racing wheel make a car modded?

4. a few mentions were made of the need for a 'good body'. does this just mean no rust and the body isn't completely screwed?

5. nearly every man and his dog now has a loud exhaust on some shitty car( excels especially) these days. are they actually getting a performance benefit or they simply just making their car noisier.

cheers.
