Yep, the head unit has an external amp bolted in behind it. Its made by Technics and I think its 4x20 watts, I've pulled mine out as the cd player died. You should be able to tap in to the cable between to get the pre-outs for an external amp, but you will need to leave the unit installed as it also controls the satellite switches and volume control.
