the missing up high was due to faulty points isnt it great when new parts arnt right.

so now apart from the arcing and the idle the car drives fine.

the leads are less than a year old although the metal that connects the coil to the lead is really damaged (looks melted and stuff) so that may be the problem.

could poor earthing cause the car to behave this way? im sure the cam timing is correct etc as the car runs very well apart from this there is no water loss and no oil usage in the past 200km after the gasket has been changed...

perhaps i will do a compression test tomorrow and see if the gasket is not sealing properly.

also i havent checked the plugs but i bet it is the problem they are only 500kms old tho

thanks

Daniel
