ok if your stripping your block and cleaning it that means you SHOULD put all new gaskets on stuff when you put it back together my block is green but i dont have any leaks so its all good, so paint it whatever colour you want just use heatproof engine enamel

get a buffer of some description or if your really keen give it to a metal polisher and ask how much.

i tried to paint my extractors with heatproof paint and the stuff is shit it flaked off after a week, in other words dont bother get it Heat proof coated.
