new (exchange) master cylinder should be $100 to $150 or so. ring around the usual suspects (autobahn, repco, auto one, ABS, etc)
get a dud one for exchanging from a wreck so you don't end up car-less
ditto for vacuum booster - but only if a newer one-way valve (air can be blown thru valve from master cylinder to engine - but not the other way) doesn't improve the pedal feel while driving.
purlion the one-way valve (or check valve) from anything at the wreckers - should fit inside most pockets or bottoms of toolboxes.
warning: if you're unsure of your ability to fix/replace brake components, get a brake place to do it for you - otherwise next time we read about you, it might be in the newspaper instead of here.
