thats such a stupid attitude, in some instances going faster than the posted limit is 100% safe, speed limits allow for the lowest common denominator, just as in many cases you need to go much slower than the speed limit to be "safe" (many country roads for example you have to go slower than the limit in some sections)

i know of a 50zone that has a river on one side (fenced) and the sea on the other side with a big park, vision is clear for a large distance either side of the road, and the 2 lane road is allmost wide enough to be a 4 lane road. there are no intersecting driveways or roads, and no bends. and if any pedestrians were nearby you would see them well before they were even close to the road. the road is like this for about 3km. do u think 50 is the maxiumum safe speed on this road?
