why would you need a flex joint? if your engine mounts are stuffed maybe? and there's not enough mounts on the actual exhaust system?
story: i've got a mandrel bent 3" system stored under my house, came of a 1G-GTE RA40 celica, it includes a bend going over the diff....
as long and you brace the turbo and.or dump pipe so all the weight's not hanging off the manifold bolts, and there's enough of those -big-black-rubber-band-thingos holding the system in place, everything need only bolt up.
use flanges not flare joints- the clamps and faces become flogged out very quickly, they're a PITA to work on and they're prone to leaking if you;re constantly re-tightening the joint.
if you've done the flanges square to each other, just smear both side with exhaust sealing putty (maniseal) before bolting up tight.
