Ask to see it running, if possible. definately compression test it, anything over 140psi is excellent, 110-140 acceptable, and under will be on the way to a rebuild. If you can't see it running or compression test it, assume it's to suit rebuild unless he gives you a warranty of good condition. If it's been sold with both computers, check to see all the plugs are there, along with all other fittings (AFM, sensors, ...), and that nothing is broken on the engine. Pull the rubber inlet pipe off the fron of the tubo, and check the compressor wheel - it should have not chunks taken out of the wheel, and have no side to side, or forwards and back play with light to light/medium touch and force. Look into the head area through the oil cap, is it relatively clean or dirty with black carbon deposits from lack of oil changes - if it is, the bearings won't be much better!!! Finally check the spark plugs are not immersed in oil which has leaked out of the rocker cover gasket, and if you can when compression testing, check all the spark plugs are uniform in colour and condition
