7 weekends was working 1 day each weekend on car, and 2 -3 of those on wiring and mucking around. That's for two people working on the car 9.00am - 6pm (at least) every weekend.

Front cut (manual) from Japanese Motorsports - $4,500 with panels
Engine Mounts (ones on front cut were knacked) - $260 each (paid $220)
TEMS Shocks $71.50 each (paid $50)
Air Filter - $47.50
Super-Pro Urethane Lower control arm bushes - $100
SPark Plugs 6@$13.50 each
Oil Filter and oil $65
Tailshaft uni-joints and balancing $110 (for rear)
Cat -back Exhaust 2.5 inch, resonator, turbo muffler $300
Fan/Combination Belt - $50
Sundries $200 (bolts, clips, wiring bits, etc)

I know the front cut was a lot but it was hard to get a manual.
Front Cut 140,000 kms. Turbo seals starting to leak now. Otherwise is OK.
Stock toyota induction, computer, everything. I've never tuned it coz there is nothing to do! But am considering a piggyback or APEXi S-AFC soon(ish) to get a bit more out of it.
You need the right bellhousing from a 1jz engine. The 1jz came with a R154 which is bigger and stronger than a W58 box on the NA MA70's. I'm not sure if the W58 will bolt to a 1jz/r154 bellhousing but I think it does. You can buy the bellhousing from toyota but get your checkbook out!
I guess it's hard to say if a 1jz or 7M turbo is better bang for buck etc. The 1jz conversion goes very hard though and should last longer, but I thought all the time that a 7m would have been easier! The 1j cost a lot all up, but it's worth it IMHO.
