 Pods Vs panels ( Air intake ) what do you think.

i've been thinkin about chuckin in a pod possibly simota or something similar of that calibre. Well mostly for the noise and partially for the performance gain.
i've been researching onn the past i would say 10 pages and only found one interesting thread which actually discussed some issues involved with air intake.
it was said that air pods itself was no better than a decent panel filter if not fed the right amount of air.
im no expert but i always assumed that pods had more free flow than the panel filters.
Obviously if i was to actually to put in a pod filter i was thinkin about feeding cold air into it also.
by saying this, i guess what im trying to say is if i was to keep the stock air intake box and jess change to pipe in which to feed cold air into it given that its still panel will it be the same versus a pod filter with a similar setup perfomance wise.
