Manny Forums Junkie Location: Sydney Registered: May 2002	Re: Buying a sub $15000 Soarer Mon, 12 August 2002 11:57 Pete True about the TT's, they come with standard coil spring suspenion (some with TEMS which are just fancy adjustable shockers) - fancy suspension are found on the airbagged V8s and Active V8s which can lead to problems but offer luxurious ride quality. The Actives are particularly sought after for their rarity - only 800 odd ever made and they showcased what hydraulic computer-controller suspenion could do in a production car. Outhandles a TT in the twisty bits without raising a sweat. The cheap ones tend to need some TLC to bring them up to grade but are a bargain if you don't mind a bit of DIY. Just usual wear items like suspenion arms, electronics that fail (dash especially), EMV (TV) Screens that fail, fuel pump ECUs that fail, A/C solenoid failure. All problems are readily fixed and most are common across the Toyota range of the same era. Parts are readily available new or used and are reaonably priced for Toyota parts. The cars are heavy - 1600 to 1700 kgs, so off the mark the 1J breathes deeply to get her going but still manages very impressive 0-100km/hr and 0-400m times of ~6/13. They are deceptively quick and surprise many a Rex/HSV/Lancer on the road. Autos are common and accounted for 99% of the TT sales - whilst being less lavishly equipped, manual Soarer command a premium and are highly sought after by enthusiasts. Mountains of info is available on the ALSC and LSOC sites and their members sites. Floorpan is common with the JZA80 so just about all suspenion components are interchangeable.
