You can't compression test a motor by spinning it by hand, if it's not in a half cut (and I doubt it will be), you'll have to use a battery and the starter motor circuitry to spin it over. Yes, cold and hot compressions will vary, however the finally number will still be indicitive of the condition of the engine. I have quoted cold compression numbers above.
