I used a silicone-based gasket compound to seal my turbine exhaust housing gasket. It lasted for long enough for me to save the $50 for a real gasket next time I had the turbo off (about 3 months). You may be able to find compounds with different heat resistance ratings, like heat-rated engine/exhaust/brake enamels.

If you're not happy with the durability of a silicone gasket compound you may need to consider other options - like a real gasket maybe.
