You need to setup a speed sensor and then create a 'table' using speed and 'engine load' (TPS). You then use it to control outputs to switch the auto. It is not simple as you have to set it up across a large range of variables to create the hysteresis points, and it takes about a day of dyno time (according to the tuner). Read exxy.
Like Sideshow has said, probably not worth your while if you are sticking to standard everything.
I can't comment about the Haltech.
