hi i dont know any thing about 4ages but i do know that crankcase ventilation is basically clean air in one end and dirty air out the other end into the manifold after the throttle body. so if there is a pipe a threaded hose end or anything like this in the top this is usually air in from the air filter. there will then be a lower hose end witch will run directly to the manifold. the hose that runs to the manofld is the one that needs the pcv valve in it . now with that said ,the size of the hose to the air in can make a difference as can the size of the hose to the manifold and the size of the hole through the pcv if the size of the hose and the pcv are bigger than the air in then this will cause the manifold to actually suck harder throught this hose causing it to suck oil as well, this is usually seen out the exaust pipe as grey smoke not black and usually only at hight revs. so hoses should be around the same size or air in should be bigger. if the hose to the manifold is close to the throttle body and not directly to the manifold then this could cause the seep u talk about how ever im not a machanic so if im wrong any where here plz correct me ,hope i could help. as for black smoke maybe your sucking the guts out of the motor therefore the ecu is adding more fuel thats not getting burnt just a thought.
