as far as I understand it, it doesn't really matter. I would have thought that it would be the total airflow which determines if a single or twin setup would use more fuel eg. Say you have a constant air fuel ratio of 12.5:1 with a single and a twin setup. Well if the single setup pumps more air, then there will be more fuel needed to keep the ratio consistant or vice versa. So basically whichever setup has the higher flow will use more petrol and also make more power.
