haha... Toyota did a similar thing to me... I wanted to get a log book so I got a service while I was there... they came back with:
Real Problem - Toyotas description - Price
split steering arm boot - split power steering box - $2500+
split CV boot - broken CV's - $450ea

their method of repair seems to show that they are not willing to repair parts of a car only replace...
