What you are experiencing here is quite normal! The cams will naturally settle to a point, where there is least pressure being exerted by the valve springs.
IMHO, if the tensioner is in place and in good condition, and primed with oil, I seriously doubt that your chain would jump a tooth on any of the timing gears.
