A few people, not sure if they're on here have done custom turbo setups. A couple of magazines have featured them, one made 160rwkw.
The 1GFE is pretty tough. The gearbox is the same as used in the S15 200SX, so it should be up to the task as well as the diff. Lexus build quality standards tend to mean that everything is fairly over-engineered.
