I've had the same problem Skip.

I have a swirl pot between the top hose and the radiator inlet, this has the radiator cap on it.
If I fill this up (as you'd expect it to be) it spits out to the overflow bottle, I've given up on filling it up and just leave it now, it is usually 1/2 empty (cold) and this allows the over flow bottle to be full.

That all sounds a bit messy doesn't it.

Basically, I can't fill the cooling system up as much as I thought I should be able to, when I do it overflows!!
I'm running a 1.1bar rad cap
