A/R = area-to-radius, pretty much as explained above.
The stocky 1JZ manifolds are kind of hard to work with, due to being VERY compact. You look at the size of them, and you'll be horrified, however, they don't work anywhere NEARLY as bad as they look like they do. A custom manifold will likely be necessary, though, as will a fuel system upgrade, new ECU, decent cooler, etc. I'm presuming you've already budgeted for these As for what turbo to use, if you can afford to, use either a single, or a pair, of Garret GT's. Otherwise, you'll want a pair of something reasonable second hand, and that'll be where it gets a bit hard. You need something smallish in the exhaust, non-ceramic, and reasonably efficient. It's a good challenge Otherwise, you could try a replacement Falcon turbo, I'd believe that with the RIGHT manifold, it could work better than a lot of people will tell you..
