Oil to use in 4AGE with 200k clicks	Thu, 12 February 2004 04:28

I wanted to know if anybody has used the oil they say is for "older engines" (there's one by Shell and i think valvoline). Do these accelerate the wear of the engine, yet stop it blowing smoke. I usually use 20W-50 Shell helix and change every 5k. The engine does use a little b/w oil changes, was wondering if the older engine oil may stop this. Would you want to use higher viscosity than the 20W-50 or will this deteriorate the engine quicker? Ages ago my dad used stop smoke in his old 929 s/w and the engine started going downhill big time was wondering whether this type of oil is essentially the same thing. Any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated. Anybody used that older engine oil with success? It says some stuff about dispersants and other crap on the bottle. [Report message to a moderator]
