Thanks for the responses. Does anybody know what it would cost to recon a 4AGE head. A VRS kit is that just the head gasket etc. If your going to this much trouble it it worth dropping the sump & replacing big end bearings, or are these usually ok? Recoing the head sounds like it would be the best part of a grand installed. Am I not better going down to SSS and getting an import motor for $750, new timing belt and seals, or could this motor be worse than mine anyway? Better the devil you know or some s**t. ortahor - its good to know the 4AFEs are strong motors. This one's an auto which zaps a few kw, but the manuals aren't too slow...I was impressed. The 4AF carby autos I test drove weren't the best - but I guess it's how they've been tuned etc. [Report message to a moderator]
