Celica_RA40 Regular Location: Newcastle Registered: May 2002	Re: banging noise Fri, 16 August 2002 11:27 i know what a big end bearing sounds like and its not nice. especialy when u pull the motor down and there are little bits of metal floating around in it. it sounds like a realy loose timing chain on startup but constant normally you only heara big end bearing while cruising or under load. always make sure you warm your car up before you go for a thrash. or even a spirited drive. since i have rebuilt mine after a big end bearing failure on number 3 cylinder i dont rev it over 4 grand untill it is at operating temp. if you need to know how to check if it is the big end PM me [Report message to a moderator]
