commander Regular Location: Canada Registered: January 2004	Re: ~~~Supernova~~~ Mon, 16 February 2004 05:11 valves done. the engine appears to be in remarkable condition. ported and polished. that damn nasty-ass ridge is gone. looks good, feels good. i can probably get the flywheel shaved...i mean do it myself. will need to "aquire" the various MAP sensors and some other parts, but overall should happen. Might happen ? yup . swap it out, if not happy then - swap back, add headers, add close ratio, etc, etc... can't afford to look at shims this time. i'll try to get by with old shims. budget engine core - 115 head gasket - 115 computer - 0 lapping compound lapping tools high temp paint - 10 ht silicone - 0 new oil - $50 see.. right here.. ouch... shit like this hoses - $10 vacuume shit - $25 new bolts - dream on ( aircraft dudes like me spend plenty enough on bolts thanks! ) supra fuel pump. i'll try to "find" one alternator- ps pump- starter - hopefully use the 4ac one ? looks like about $500-600 again. i can live with that. sure helps having all the tools already. big bonus. __________________________ can't get over how great the engine looks. paint is on , seat is in. i thought the shims where gone, but they look o.k.. i'm just not sure about the engine, it looks so great, but. the plan is, don't touch the crank. pull piston, and deglaze without touching crank/flywheel. this is no problem. oh yeah... it's important to clean the rings. and best of all. it is no longer -40 outside, so everything looks like a go. what a great engine. $115 CAN i think... sweet. the story is... new guys, new owners...the guy did not want to sell me the engine... he's all "yo dude, that's like a jap Hasharocco model, i'm gonna try to get it going, it's worth mega bucks..." ya ya ya ...eventually after a few days, i drove away with a 4age in my ae82 trunk. and... considering the bill sherwood oil pump treatment for my pump but am not sure....
