My personal belief is that you'll only notice a significant gain if you tune/develop a motor to the point that the total intake charge demand approaches the flow available from 40mm throats. I'd think a substantial amount of work would need to be undertaken to reach that point.

At 88.5/78, 11:1, with huge lift and high RPM, perhaps you could justify 45 or even 48 DCOEs. On a relatively mild 85/78 2TG, 292 degrees and 10.5:1, I'd think the gains would be negligable and the money spent on upgrading could achieve greater bang for buck elsewhere, perhaps in an overbore and 88.5 forged pistons.
