I was able to change the kickdown point by undoing the locknuts on the auto throttle cable (right most) and reducing the number of threads on the left side of the mounting bracket (hence convincing tranny it had more throttle).

The car is now a heap more responsive. Only about 3 - 4 threads (approx 5mm) made the difference. The car kicks down much more readily and is a heap easier to drive. The auto turned out to be a A240L (Hydraulicaly controlled signified by L which allowed this method to make a difference - If it was a 240E (Electronically controlled) this would not have helped as apparently it only affects the quality of the shifts in this case. EDIT - YES IT WOULD...see pdf file in later posts

Much less throttle opening is needed now - if anyone else has similar problems I'd recommend checking it out.
This shouldn't be harmful to anything should it?? I reckon it may have been out of adjustment before? Any thoughts?
Thanks for the help cruz
