Hi all, Thanks for all the suggestions...I pulled the interior apart a couple of days ago and it was the speedo cable. I jacked the car up on stands to see if the cable turned with the wheels turning while the dash was disconnected...Sure enough, it wasn't turning so i figured the problem was somewhere further along the cable... Trace the cable back to the box, pull out the speedo gear to find some of the plastic teeth have worn away...problem diagnosed! Funnily enough, I had a corona box lying around and substituted the said gear. They had the same amount of teeth and were visually the same so I put it in and it seems to work ok. End of problem, unless I get a speeding fine telling me otherwise Thanks a lot people, I've said it plenty of times before but these forums are full of useful information and previous experience.
