I was using the box yesterday to see if I had a 20v gearbox as well and the 1st gear ratios are definitely different - haven't compared the other ratios yet (which I believe should be the same). In first gear the AE82 box requires about 13.6 turns of the input shaft to get one turn of the driveshaft and this other box requires about 14.4 turns. (Decimal places are from a visual estimate so not completely accurate.) I'm trying to find out the final drive ratio of the boxes which I'm hoping are slightly different as the rotations above don't calculate back to give the same final ratio. So to make it short, looks like one is C50 and one is C52 but both have two ears for whatever reason. The "condition" of the aluminium on the C50 box and it's bell housing looks the same.
