Mate, we (our family) has just been through ALL this, we had just sold the landcruiser 'cause it was too exxy and mum wanted a manual camry wagon.

unfortunately they were rarer than a v12 Charade in decent form and only in 4cyl. The only manuals that we were able to find were in the widebody shape ( <1997) and didn't have much poke at all and were very very spartan in what they offered.

Apparently the model before the current one (ie, the one after the widebody), that ran from somewhere like 1997 to 2001 or something ???? - the last of the camry wagons - did come in manual, but I never saw one in our weeks of looking.

My grandpa has an SV21 wagon and loves it. not manual, and not the car you are looking for. I know there are manuals around, and they are very tough and not to bad really. My cousins in tassie have one and love it. (manual sv21 wagon)

You will probably find 3-4 in NSW + VIC in the Widebody shape, manual, and 4 cyl and they will price to about 12k max

What we ended up doing was buying a Subaru Liberty manual wagon. An incredibly well finished car and quite quick to boot. Cheap on the fuel as well.

I was sad to leave the toyota badge behind, but hey, Caldina's didn't make it to Australia. Sad

They are a little more expensive off the bat for similar year vintage than the camry, but you can find them with similar kilometres and similar price, just maybe 1 or 2 years older. What I tended to find was people with camry wagons often took advantage of the toyota's "indestructability", and they sometimes seemed a little worse for wear. Generally I found the Suraru's well serviced.

Anyway, thus endeth the lecture, I hope my experiences of the past month have been some help to you anyway.. cheers

Edit: some stuff wasn't written very clearly..hahaha fixed now
