The loop also has to be a full 360 degree ring that the shaft goes through.
I'll jump under my car tomorrow arvo & snap a pic of mine.
I guess it might not apply in live axle setups, but in my brothers IRS cressida I don't see the point at all in having a loop on the 2 piece shaft. The front shaft only has 1 uni at the front, so, if this or the yoke snaps the centre bearing will support the shaft (although I guess if it's spinning real fast it might be able to bend the support bearing bracket & flick down, in which case it would hardly vault the car as it's not levering from the diff). And the rear shaft goes through the diff crossmember, so it can't fall if it breaks.
Also with the tailshaft the front uni (& yoke) is from the chaser the motor & gearbox came from, & is much bigger than the 2 standard cressida unis on the rear shaft, which also has a rubber vibration dampner seperating the front of the rear shaft & the rear of the rear shaft (if you know what I mean) that will break way before the front shaft or uni ever will.
I doubt I'd be able to explain all that to the ANDRA officials though.
