Once it pops u want it to stop. Wed, 21 August 2002 01:43 Go to previous message
After almost a month of my car making this pop noise on gear changes out of the exhaust i finally got the f#*$ing thing to stop popping. The car was over fueling and the excess fuel was making its was down to the cat becuase it was being pushed out the exhaust stem unburned. Any way on gear changes the excess fuel would mix with air and cause a mini explosion in my cat which would make a pop sound. Anyway went through the routine checked for exhaust leak, dirty carb, replaced the air pump. Anyway carby was a little dirty so i decided to rebuild it. Cost me about $100 to rebuild. So come Saturday afternoon when i get it back on the car i go for a burn and straight up first to second i get a very loud pop. The rebuild carby is putting more fuel into the car which isn't getting burned off. So i scream and kick it u know the usual. I get it home and notice that i can hear what i thought was a big end bearing noise so as you can imagine i go of my tits again pop the hood am i am ready to just drop a match in there. notice air pump pulley little lose thought f#*$ it took off the belt and hey presto the noise goes so does the pop and the car runs like 25% better then ever. Guess where i got the air pump from TOYOTA GENUINE PARTS. hmmm O what a feeling.
