Big problem is that the pipe has a flared end and when the nut is tightened too much it flares the end of the nut.
This then makes the end of the nut too big to unscrew from the filter.
recommend:
1/. Use a Pipe spanner ( it has 6 flats - well 4 and 2 halves) and webbing across the top to stop the spanner opening up.
2/. Try not to overtighten ( can be difficult to seal however).
A lot of the Dealers actually cut off the end and have a new end formed on the pipe and use a new nut.
