Corona backfiring through exhaust!

hey all
last night i was up to some hooliganism on a quiet back road at about 1am. anyway, i was holding gears and letting the engine in my rt104 corona rev a bit, nothing extreme, just letting it live a little in 1st and 2nd.
I stopped my car at a car park, and turned it off (i drove normally for about 2 min before turning it off). when i came back out to hop in the car, it had been sitting for a couple of hours, and i then proceded to drive off. when i let the clutch out, it made the weirdest niose i have ever heard. it was clearly an air noise, but i didn't know where from.
I pulled over onto the side of the road, popped the bonnet and listened for any unusual noise from under the bonnet, but it sounded faint. i then went around the back and the sound level grew, it sounded like something was loose in the exhaust system.
My frinds and i piled back into the car and i slowly drove it the 800m to my g/f place, where i got the keys for her car and took my mates home. when i got back (about 2am) i grabbed a torch and had a look under the back of the car. i couldn't hear anything... so i gave it a little rev... nothing in the way of unusual noises... a bigger rev.... nothing!
WTF is going on? any ideas as to what happened and why would be greatly appreciaed
btw, the car runs genie 4-2-1 headers, 2 1/4in exhaust sustem, a sports muffler and a 15in resonator, if that is any help
