Bit late for this but I'm in a sharing mood 1.What Religious tradition do you belong too? None at all...I'm neither here nor there, I'm probably agnostic but I'm vaguely interested in buddhist philosophy. 2.How long have you been a member of this tradition? Well I gave up on religion probably ten years ago. Or at least I decided it wasn't guiding me, nor a necessary part of my life. 3.How did you come to be a member? I guess at the time I was asking questions of god that no one could answer. Things like 'If god was so good, then why does this happen' blah blah. After some time I realised that I was asking questions of myself, why do I allow this stuff to happen, why don't I understand the pain in my life and the suffering in the rest of the world. At that point, I realised that I had no use for god and I needed to focus on what is real and what is now. 4.What do you believe are the essential beliefs of your religion? I would say that you must exert the utmost respect for everyone else and the utmost respect for the world around you and that you must be concious of sharing both your surroundings and your own energy at all times. 5.What are the main stories/ myths of your religion? No stories to tell. 6.What has been the most significant religious ritual that you have experienced? None that I can remember, I was baptised, but I don't care for it these days! 7.How is your religious organisation structured? It isn't. I think implying that one person is above another is a bit depressing, structure is almost always revolves around 'power' and not around the 'role' that each person must play. Heirarchy and structure are too often confused! 8.What texts would you hold as most significant? Alot of philosophers, particularly more 'eastern' stuff (krishnamurti for example) 9.How do you decide if something is morally good or morally evil? Morals is something that I don't understand particularly well. It seems more often than not they are just used to justify doing the wrong thing, regardless of which side someone is on. Someone is morally 'good' if they focus on causing the least kafuffle for other people as possible...someone is morally bad if they spend all the time thinking about themselves generally to the detriment of others. 10.What sacred symbols does your religion have? Symbols aren't practical and serve no purpose to 'agnosticism'. 11.What do you find as the most benefeficial way to relate to your God? No gods to speak of over here, it's part of that whole 'heirarchy' issue that I have [Report message to a moderator]
