Fri, 05 March 2004 07:20 $61 court costs, if I lose, + whatever fine the magistrate deems appropriate (usually stays at the same as on the ticket, in this case $176) magistrate has the power to jack the fine up to $550 if he thinks I'm wasting the courts time or the cops can prove I was massively negligent, but otherwise it's just the $61 - police prosecutor, acting on behalf of the govt, can not make me pay the cost of his time (as would happen if you were challenging a council or other body - then you're up for around $300+ per hour in legal costs if you lose) [Report message to a moderator]
