road legal?? methinks changing position of engine from frotn to mid constitutes an ICV, and you'll be hard pressed to get ti road legal... find a very good engineer and have a long chat...
the starlet, while light, is not bike light.. i wouldn't want to be trying to drive even a 500kg car with a chain drive!!!
MR2 gear into starlet? you'd need to redisng to whole rear end of car. soudns liek a fascinating project, but doubtful for road legal.... good luck!
i think a 4A starlet would be enough fun  if it's not, whacon a turbo and hold on
