Not sure if anyone cares, but the 3S-GELC/3SGELC code is a real code for a production engine, but as far as I can tell it's the same thing as the 3SGE engine. I'm in a similar position of confusion with this engine, because I'm thinking about buying an '86 Celica GT-S sedan with this engine freshly installed (new crate motor). I didn't know anything about it, so I've been tryin to find out about it, specs, design differences, etc. The seller claims it's a JDM motor, with 180HP. This would be awesome, if true, but everywhere I've looked online it just seems to be that the 3SGELC motor is the same as the 3SGE motor, but only the 86-89 production in Celicas. For the price of the car i'm interested in, I don't care if it's 180HP or the regular 135HP of the 3SGE, because of it's age and use, being new. But 180 would be a lot nicer, duh...
Anyway, I'm still doing more research on this, and if I find out anything new and important I'll post more info.
Oh yeah, the horsepower rating are US spec....
