Ok, here's some more info... I found this on another forum:

"I just looked through my 97/98 TRD catalog and on page 6 and it shows that in 8/85-8/89 the Celica ST16 came with a 3SGELC"

Note: this post was in response to someone asking if the 3SGE engine was given to the US (dumb question really...) But anyway, I've come to the conclusion that the 3SGE and 3SGELC engines are the same. The only possibly reason for a different code designation would be where it was made, or rather for where it was made, such as Japan or Europe versus the US. I know the euro spec 3SGELC is rated at 180HP, which I would assume would be the same for Japan, all things considered. This would make sense for my seller's claimed 180HP rating for a JDM 3SGELC. It sucks to live in the US... we get 135HP... bullshit! Razz

Anyway, back to the original post... you say it says 3SGELC, and is turbocharged and all that fun stuff. My personal opinion is that you may have a 3SGE/3SGELC engine (not 3SGTE) with a turbo manifold and head (see pics). Hence the "turbo" on the head. If I get the above mentioned celica with the 3SGELC JDM motor I would probably also do the same conversion so I could turbo charge it (in the distant future when finances are available). Now as for your HP ratings, I have no clue what's available in australia, or what spec engines you get. But hope some of this helps, and good luck!
