It does this by blocking off half of the port to each cylinder thereby increasing the speed of the incoming air. Once the revs get to a preset point, the ECU turns on the TVIS valve which unblocks that half of the port so you get more air coming in at high revs. The 3SGE (Gen 1) makes maximum torque @ 4800 rpm and max.Power @ 6000rpm so not a lot of point revving past 6000rpm. If it had different cams it would probably make more power at higher revs. But the Gen 1 3SGE is getting old, and new cams would be hard to find. Better off spending the money on a Gen2 or Gen 3. Gen 2 + 3 do not have TVIS. My 2c worth! Cheers T. [Report message to a moderator]
