if it were a stuck valve i would say the motor is rooted. if one of the valves stas open it is able to be cliped by another valve and hit against the piston. in thatcase you would at the least eb up for new valve,guide possibly piston,rings and maybe even a rebore depending on the extent of the damage. if he can take it back and ask for another or if it was privately imported i would say a full strip and all measurments checks and new bearings and rings while your at it.
