did mine recently dont need starter trick or rattle gun.
obtain:
1 Sledge hammer
1 lonighish ring spanner to the right size
1 piece of 2x4 with a spanner sized split in the end.
something to brace the pulley with throught the hole is used a breaker bar (if ur crank pulley hasnt any cutouts then i cant help u)
1 friend/relative etc
now place the ring spanner on the nut and place the wood over the other end of the spanner get the other person to wedge the bar into the cutouts on the crank pulley and hold tight! now the other person hits the end of the wood with the sledge hammer and it comes off.
worked second hit for me
