I didn't even notice the cutouts in the pulley!There doesn't seem to be much space to wedge anything too large through the cutouts & down the side behind the pulley but will definitely give it a go. Just need something narrow enough that won't break.But first,I'll give the starter trick one more try- but will put a bit of wood or something on the chassis so it doesn't dent it.Thanks for the help, Cindy.
