Seriously..why bother?? You'll still only have a laser, that owes you so much time, money for what (If you can do it, need corolla gearbox, driveshafts, hubs, mounts etc which would mean modifying engine bay mounting points etc)? If you want to keep the laser get a Mazda 1.8 engine (Maybe the one from SP astina), but even this may not fit that easy depending on what year Laser it is. You would be better off buying a better/quicker car stock with the engine you want i.e ae82/ae92 with 4age or astina sp.
