if the car is in overall good condition with only a small amount of rust and is going for $4000 well then its perfect for your engine conversion. you are going to find it hard to get a Sprinter with zero rust, plus stock Sprinters are still $2000-$4000 for anything decent, so just knock the guy down a bit and then get some money back by selling the 18r motor, and throw in the gze or 20v whichever one you want to put in.
i bought my 4ac Sprinter for $2900, it had a few small spots of rust which aren't hard to get rid of, the 4ac has served me well and is nearly ready to die, so the 4agze or 4age should be going in soon.
but yeh if you want a gze or 20v in a Sprinter and cant find one already done for a reasonable price, then this Sprinter would be a good option seeing as its in ok condition from what you've said.
good luck anyway dude.
