Hey. good luck with it. I am doing this conversion in a ra40 at the momnent. Very similar i think.
This is my budget and so far it is pretty close to the mark. Slightly under.
Engine = $ 2100 delivered from sydney (front cut ga20 soarer)
labour = $1200 (getting it professionally installed)
Fuel pump and new lines = $500 not using surge tank. submersible pump.
Muffler = $200 3in chrome from autobarn (on sale at the moment 4" tip)
Exhaust = $300 mandrel bent 3" (maybe more with high flow cat)
AutoElectrician = $400
Extras = $600 this includes pipes and radiator remounting and shit like that.
Air filter = $220 apexi pod

Am using standard engine management.
Am machining the disc and putting performance pads on the front until i can afford bigger conversion.
As for engineering. In queensland if the engine is the same size then u just need engineers aproval with cost about $50 or so. Dont even need to do any brake upgrades. But i am going to for peace of mind.
It cost tons to do any conversion like this and u will NEVER get your money back so plan on keeping the car. If you really love your car then i sugest do it but if u are unsure just sell it and buy something else that is faster.

Even if u find mounts that u don't need to modify do it anyway. With larger engines it is always better to mount them as far back and as low as u can. Helps weight distribution and clearances.
